Project Reveal: Smile Savvy Cosmetic Dentistry
It’s amazing how we can intersect people at different stages of our lives.
I went to high school with Dr. Drew Lyons and have watched him and his wife Dr. Joya build their dentistry practice from the very start. They are the epitome of a power couple and I so admire their faith, their professionalism, and their persistence to give back.
So of course, I was honored when they reached out to me to refresh their dental office waiting areas as they prepared for a major national press feature. I can’t wait to see how it turns out, so make sure you’re following them on Instagram for the big reveal!
The office was not in bad shape before, so we had a great starting point. Like many commercial spaces, they focused on the hard surfaces and making sure they had a functional, presentable space to welcome guests when they opened their doors. But they hadn’t put much thought into the decor since. I mean, who has time when you’re BOTH practicing dentistry and raising a family?
Before
Our goal was to make this waiting area feel like a destination; somewhere that patients would want to come to and feel relaxed before their appointment. Although Smile Savvy specializes in cosmetic procedures, and their patients may not be in acute pain, there still is anxiety associated with coming to the dentist!
Dr. Drew, Dr. Joya and their staff have the most warm and welcoming personalities, but the waiting area is still the very first impression guests receive. It’s that non-verbal, visual communication that makes a huge difference!
We took color inspiration from the exterior window store fronts and incorporated this bold hunter green throughout. By adding more substantial chairs, and ambient lighting, we created an inviting welcome focal point that greets guest immediately. They also have an amazing logo that is used in all their branding, and we designed custom waiting chairs with that logo embroidered on the back. Can you guess what the logo represents? Hint: there are two things in one!
Here’s how the waiting area looks now:
