Primary Bedroom Designer VIP Day

Ok y’all, I saved the best for last from this Designer VIP Day because truth be told, if I could purchase everything we sourced for this design for my own bedroom, I would! I cannot honestly say that every project I design is something I would want to live within my own home because I’m fortunate enough to have a wide variety of preferred aesthetics that my clients enjoy. I’m glad about that!

Even though I said before that I know Candace’s taste because we’ve worked together several times, we still gave her style examples to choose from.

  1. Traditional - This style has lots of trim details and historical furniture styles. Sarah is my favorite designer that does this style well!

  2. Contemporary - When you think of what’s current and new, that’s what designers call contemporary. Nicole White is a designer in Florida that masterfully executes this style.

  3. California Cozy - Just like in the living room design we prepared for the Holley residence, this style is full of light colors and natural tones.

Primary Bedroom

Candace and her husband love the contemporary style but for this bedroom, she wanted to up the ante a little bit! In their previous bedroom, they had a soft grey upholstered bed but in their new home she really wanted a canopy bed to be the star of the room. Leading with that starting point, here is what we came up with!

  • Curtains - When it comes to bedrooms, I always advice my clients to invest in black-out curtain panels. There is nothing like being able to make your room dark at any time of the day so that you can catch a nap or sleep in on a slow morning. In this bedroom, we opted for a crisp white color because this room will have minimal toddler playtime.

  • Curtain Rod - We wanted to soften the windows with this beautiful stained walnut curtain rod with a simple finial cap. Adding a touch of wood to the room balances out the dominate

  • Green Velvet Upholstery Brass Canopy Bed - This bed is a stunner in person and when I found it on Wayfair I knew it would be a great centerpiece for this room. Bedrooms, especially for parents with young children, should feel like a complete retreat and for this room we

  • Bedding Set - I feel like a plush velvet bed dressed with fine linen bedding is the foundation of a royal bed dressing. We didn’t want to go traditional, so having a monochromatic bedding set keeps this room contemporary and current. The linen set from CB2 will last for years to come and never go out of style!

  • Euro Pillow - Velvet always adds a touch of glam and these cut velvet euro-sized pillows will be the perfect anchor for the bedding of this outstanding bed.

  • Bolster Pillow - This pillow adds another layer of green velvet to which creates depth and dimension. On a king-sized bed, having a pillow like this will create fullness without too many extra pieces to shift around.

  • Bedside Lamp - For the bedside lamps, we brought in another metal finish that is a copper tone. The copper gives warmth and the rectangle white shade adds a contemporary feel.

  • Nightstand - This classic silhouette is accented with brass hardware on the drawers and feet. It’s the perfect size for all your bedside necessities.

  • Dresser - For their bedroom storage, we wanted something sleep and modern and this walnut dresser was the perfect match. Having no hardware on the front of the dresser is ideal as they will be passing it every time they enter the room.

  • Jeff Manning Art - I had to include another Jeff Manning art piece in their bedroom because it perfectly complements the stunning velvet green bed.

Like I said at the beginning of this post, this room is totally MY style. I would love to curl up in this beautiful bed every day and wake up feeling like I’m in my royal chambers. I hope they feel like that as they are enjoying it! What’s your favorite part of this design? I can’t wait to get it photographed once everything is installed.
